In the rural Midwest, hunting is a very popular sport. There are several regulations in regards to hunting that all hunters need to know. One of the most important regulations in regards to hunting is the seasons. If a hunter is caught hunting the wrong animals, during the off-season they can be issued a severe fine and possibly face imprisonment. Kansas is one of the rural areas in North America that attracts a lot of hunting activity, so it is important that the seasons are well understood by hunters.

The first season for discussion is the turkey season. Turkey hunting actually has a fall and spring session, which allows hunters a multiple opportunities each year to get that prize turkey. The spring season begins on April 1, for archery and disabled hunters. This means that they cannot use any type of firearm. However, beginning April 13 and continuing through May 31, firearms are fair game for turkey hunting. During the fall season, people will find three separate seasons. The first season runs from October 1 to November 29. The second season is December 12 through December 31. While the final season runs from January 9 through January 31.

Another hunting season is furbearer. This is also divided into several categories, with each having separate seasons. This season runs from November 16 through February 15, of the following calendar year. Beaver trapping is also part of the furbearer season, and it runs from November 16 to March 31, of the following year. People can hunt running furbearer between March 1 and November 1.

Big game season, essentially meaning deer season, is the final season for discussion. This season runs from April 29 to December 20. People are urged to follow the hunting season regulations, as they do not want to receive a large penalty.
